It?s not unusual to get more than is bargained for when purchasing baby furniture sets. Most furniture stores or stores specifically for children's furniture are usually a good place to find a well-priced set. When most people think about a set they're likely to picture a pair. However, in the case of baby furniture most sets come with three or more pieces. Most collections include at least five pieces of baby furniture even though some pieces aren't considered part of the set.

The most common pieces included in baby furniture sets are a dresser and a crib. Typically both will be very beautiful, with most sets being wood construction. If preferred, it may be possible to find a metal crib with a wooden dresser.

Bigger sets will most likely include a changing table with the crib and dresser. These sets usually cost a bit more, but they actually represent significant savings. An armoire or a nightstand may be included in larger sets. The more pieces a set includes, the more it's going to cost but the set itself may be more valuable than the increase in price suggests.

For those on a budget a two or three piece set would be the best option. It is also important to consider the available space. If the nursery doesn't have a lot of it, a lot of bulky furniture simply isn?t going to work. Furthermore, it is important to consider how the furniture being considered will look within the room. If the shape, size, or style will clash or look out of place the set would be an unsuitable choice.

Affordability is a vital aspect when it comes to baby furniture sets. Remember that it could prove to be a good investment since many people dressers and armoires through their adolescent and teen years. In this way, buying a set could end up saving money in the end. Consider whether or not keeping pieces of the set for years will be worthwhile and budget accordingly.

Discounts are common when purchasing furniture sets. If the furniture is good quality additional savings in the form of years of usage may improve what could be a meager initial discount.

Restaurant Wine Serving Tips

If your restaurant will be serving wine, you must take care to serve it properly. Wine served properly can enhance and optimize the taste and bouquet, while serving it improperly will cause your wine to taste differently, even badly.

Temperature

Most wines have a proper serving temperature for optimal taste. Light colored wines, including white wines, ros?s and most sparkling wines will taste their best if served chilled at about 45 to 50 degrees. This temperature can be obtained by refrigerating the wine for about 1 - 2 hours before serving. Red wines are usually best served at a slightly cool room temperature, typically 60 to 65 degrees. Remember that on a hot day, all wines should be served slightly cooler than usual.

Chilling Wine

Your restaurant should have a proper ice bucket which allows you to fill it about 3/4 full of ice with some water. Place the wine in the bucket for 30 minutes before serving. Having the wine properly chilled will let your customers taste the wine at its best.

Glassware

The shape of the glass that wine is served in has an effect on the taste and bouquet of any wines you serve. Your restaurant should have the proper glassware for serving wines, this includes champagne glasses, flutes, rhines, port glasses, sherry glasses and all purpose wine glasses. White wine should be served in tulip shaped glasses. Red wine should be served in larger, rounded glasses with a nice size bowl. Sparkling wine and champagne should be served in tall and thin flute glasses.

Opening The Bottle

The server should use a high quality corkscrew to open the wine for the customer. There are several types of corkscrews, including the traditional, winged and screwpull. A restaurant should usually use a waiters corkscrew, made in stainless steel, it has a very sharp, serrated foil cutter with a thumb stud and a 5 turn steel spiral. Using the waiters corkscrew, remove the foil using the blade. Push the point of the corkscrew into the middle of the cork. Continue twisting the corkscrew until just one loop remains above the cork. Place the notch on top of the lever onto the lip of the wine bottle. Hold the tip of the lever against the bottle's lip, while using your other hand to stabilize the bottle, then slowly lift the lever to ease the cork out of the bottle about two thirds of the way. Grab the rest of the cork with your fingers and twist out. Use a napkin to wipe any wine from the bottle.

Very hot. tropical areas. near the equator. for example. would not need sunrooms since the temperatures there never get very low.

If you are lucky enough to have a house that sprawls across a space. such as a ranch house. you can place a sunroom at each end and take advantage of both the morning and the afternoon sunlight. A sunroom is a unique kind of space in your home and as such. requires its own special kind of furniture. Since it is a semi-outdoor room. it is exposed to sunlight (of course!). rain if the wind is blowing. and during the winter it can be exposed to snow and cold air. Because of this direct contact with the elements. sunroom furniture must be able to withstand harsh conditions. This makes it necessary for sunroom furniture to be very durable and long lasting. as well as easy to take care of. Furniture that would need to be covered when it rains. or polished frequently would require too much work.

Two types of furniture work well in this environment: furniture of natural materials that are used to being exposed to the elements. and synthetic furniture that has had durability manufactured into it. A sunroom is easy enough to achieve. especially if you are a handy do-it-yourselfer. A kit can be purchased that makes it easy to erect. You can make a sunroom of glass to maximize the amount of light that you get. and there are packages that include heating for those periods when there is no sunlight coming in. A low wall can be built to add to the feeling of making it a real room. The most common materials that sunrooms are constructed from are: PV. aluminum. wood and metals coated with PVC. The choice of furniture for a sunroom will depend on how the room is constructed. If the room is fairly well protected. you can use almost any type of furniture. just as you would inside the house. Otherwise. you may want to have furniture made of teak or bamboo. that can withstand the elements. These materials are long lasting and easy to care for. In a sunroom that is completely open. or with only a kneewall. the furniture has to be portable. since you are probably going to stop using the room in the harsh weather. PVC furniture. especially if it can be stacked. or metal furniture coated with PVC will serve this purpose. Both of these are available in many. many colors. so you can match any decorating scheme. Bamboo furniture is a popular choice for sunroom furniture since it is an outdoor material. It has the advantage over teak in that it is much lighter weight and easier to move.

If you have a sunroom where the sun moves around the room and you want to move the furniture to be able to sit in the sun. bamboo is the wiser choice. Since a sunroom is designed to be bright and "sunny". the best choice for fabrics in the room is cheery designs that go with the light hearted atmosphere of such a room. Bright colors are typically used. but coordinating them carefully is important. since overwhelming brightness combined with the light of the sun may be overpowering.

In this first of a multi part series we're going to discuss the history of the chair. Yes, they do have a history and didn't just pop out of nowhere.

Chairs are the ultimate in antiquity. And for many thousands of years chairs were not simply a device for people to sit on while eating or reading. Chairs were an article of state and dignity, used by only the wealthiest and most powerful and not simply an article of ordinary use. Not everyone had chairs. Certainly not like some of the greatest chairs to have ever adorned our world.

Even today, the chair is still used as an emblem of authority in many government buildings all over the world and also at public meetings. Actually, it wasn't until the 16th century that chairs became common place. Until the chair did become common most people sat on chests, benches and stools. The number of chairs that have survived from early days are very few. That is why they are such an antiquity and worth a lot of money in any kind of condition.

The knowledge that we have of antique chairs is gotten mostly from monuments, sculpture and paintings. There are a few examples of antique chairs that exist in The British Museum, the Egyptian Museum and a few other places around the world.

In ancient Egypt chairs appear to have played a significant role in the lives of the powerful rulers and were of great richness and splendor. Most chairs of ancient Egypt were made of ebony and ivory or of gilded wood. They were covered with very costly materials, sometimes even gems, and supported on legs that were made into the shapes of the strongest beasts of the time, mostly lions. Some legs were even made into the shape of human figures of their captives. From the few paintings we have to go by, these were truly amazing spectacles. The early monuments of Nineveh show a chair without a back but with beautifully carved legs shaped into lions' claws or bulls' hoofs. Other chairs are supported by figures in the nature of caryatides or by animals.

Then we have early Greek and Roman chairs. The earliest Greek chair that we know about goes back about 600 years before Christ. These chairs had backs and stood straight up both in front and back. The Roman chairs wee quite different. They were mostly made of marble and adorned with sphinxes. The curule chair was very similar to today's folding chairs but eventually ended up with so many ornaments that they are virtually unrecognizable from their folding chair counterparts of modern times. One of the most famous of these chairs was the one at Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. The wooden portions of this chair are very badly decayed. The chair itself appears to be the work of Byzantine of the 6th century but this is not known for certain.

Dining in Cancun can be a gastronomically rewarding experience. Everyone appreciates quality furniture. As people earn more money, they often move to larger homes and purchase better quality and larger sets of furniture. This can leave people wondering ---what should we do with all our old furniture? There are several ways to dispose of old furniture, all of which can be ecologically favorable, prudent or generous.

Some of the time unwanted furniture is in like-new condition, but more often it shows a bit of wear, and may be somewhat dated and out of style. Whatever condition the furniture is in, people have many helpful choices for its recycling.

Selling old furniture can be done through a small ad in the newspaper or a larger, more expensive ad if the furniture is more costly. Many community weekly publications will offer free or low-cost advertisements for items sold by private parties and not exceeding a certain dollar amount, which might be anywhere from $50 to $200. After that, most publications figure the person placing the ad can afford to pay for it so the rates become more standard, starting at a base rate and then so much for each additional word. If private sales are something a person wants to avoid, they can have a friend or relative do the selling and pay that person a pre-arranged fee or commission. For many people, this is a small price to pay to avoid the inconvenience of actually selling it themselves.

If a family has a lot of furniture, it is possible to have quality used furniture stores come to the home and appraise all the furniture, and then offer a specific amount for everything. The store will pick it up, and there is no more fuss. Depending on the quality of the furniture, the stores may resell it themselves, advertising it with ?estate sale? furniture. People who do not care about tax deductions, either because they feel the furniture is worth so little, or they are more anxious just to have it out of the house rather than saving a few dollars at tax time can advertise their furniture ?free? to anyone who wants it. Depending on the quality of the furniture, free is often the kind of bargain many people find hard to refuse, so if the advertising is very extensive, the furniture is usually gone quickly. Depending on where a person lives, there may be a community or association bulletin board. May supermarkets have bulletins boards for people to advertise this way, and they are usually without charge.

The more useful the furniture, the more creative options there are for giving it to people who might want it. Local hospice facilities are often furnished with slightly used, quality furniture. Domestic violence shelters frequently are in need of useful furniture, and neither of these have high operating budgets. They appreciate good quality used items when they are offered. On the chance that the local organization does not need such items, they probably will know of another agency or group that may. Calls to local churches will often result in willing takers, whether they are members of the congregation or organizations that a congregation actively supports. Even local schools, with funding shrinking each year, may accept sturdy tables, desks or bookshelves, depending on the needs of the teachers. They often do not accept furniture that must be dry cleaned, or that has padding, but rather look for items that can be washed, polished or painted so they can be sanitized.

The last idea is neither selling or nor giving away---it is actually keeping one or more pieces of old furniture, but utilizing them in a new and different way. A back porch area, cluttered with boxes and little that is truly useful can be turned into a display for potted plants, by painting an old wooden chair a bright green color and placing pots all over its flat surfaces. A table that has seen better days can become an art deco piece, by stenciling it with black and white designs and putting it near the laundry room, to hold hangars, laundry baskets or even laundry supplies.

That back, unused area can be turned into a tiny plays spot, complete with matching purple furniture for the children, with just a little sanding, paint and creativity. If painting is not desirable, a colorful throw can create a new bright chair for a child. These ideas can be used if there are available areas that can be converted into attractive places for either children or adults. For the home with no empty corner, keeping furniture is more of a challenge. However, if there is a piece of furniture that is too precious to part with, that holds so many wonderful memories, it can sometimes be modified or resized and refurbished to be integrated within the new furniture sets. The smaller the item, the easier it will be to integrate, but large pieces can also be retained. A new dining room set, in dark teak, might accept a bright red, lacquered ornamental table---which was actually used as a light brown coffee table in the living room just last year.

?You can?t get good Mexican food anywhere north of Texas.?

So averred my good buddy Tony when I suggested a Mexican meal on his recent visit. Now, I?m a good deal north of Texas, being in the Heart of Massachusetts, but that?s the kind of challenge that I can?t pass up. Three hours later, he was rubbing his stuffed belly as we left Tortilla Sam?s, voted Worchester?s Best Mexican Restaurant for the third year in a row. Being voted Best Mexican Restaurant in a little northeastern city may not seem like much ? till you stand in front of the window at Tortilla Sam?s and watch the tortillas ? freshly mixed and cut by hand ? roll through the steam press and catch a whiff of the mole. Then you realize that this is real Mexican food. And if the Mexican food in Worcester is good enough to impress Texas-born-and-raised Tony, we?ve got to figure that there are great Mexican restaurants in other unexpected places, right?

I went looking for the most out-of-the-way and unexpected places to find good Mexican food. My criteria and method were simple ? and hardly foolproof. In order to make the list, the restaurant must serve primarily Mexican food, and must have been voted a Best Mexican Restaurant in a local newspaper poll. There must be some mention in the review of authenticity. If there was a comment from someone who really KNOWS Mexican food, that gets bonus points. The list is a long way from exhaustive, but if you?re looking for good Mexican food a long way from home, you just might get your craving satisfied at one of these unlikely places to find authentic Mexican food.

Barbie and Ken: Furniture Design Ideas

I have two weaknesses that get me into trouble. One is that I eat too much chocolate, and the other is that I overindulge when fabric shopping. When I first walk into a fabric store, I am drawn to color, flash, texture, fringe, and embellishments! I might enter the store needing only some elastic or thread, but I leave with another dozen fabric swatches and fancy trims that I did not expect to buy. How do I justify these seemingly unnecessary purchases? Well, I create furniture for my Barbie and Ken dolls! Typically, I make a cozy furniture ensemble that includes a sofa, a chair, an ottoman, and coordinating pillows. You can design furniture for your own dolls, too. Here are some fun ideas to try:

1. Start with what you have. Even though I enjoy shopping for new materials, I first go through my inventory of fabric remnants to see what I already have that might be useful. In one instance, I had a geometric pattern of yellow, blue, and purple for the chair. Then, I used a solid purple color for the sofa. I made an ottoman and pillows using both of these fabrics along with additional materials.

2. Find additional fabric pieces that coordinate with the two main fabrics used for the sofa and chair. Go for something with sparkle or fur to add texture and variety. These fabrics will be used to enhance the ottoman and pillows, adding interest to the overall style of the furniture ensemble.

3. Shop for fabric! Sometimes you will not have anything in your supplies that suits your furniture design idea. As an example, I wanted to create a jungle theme with faux snakeskin, but I did not have any faux snakeskin. I now had an excuse to go shopping and buy some.

4. Use iron-on transfers to personalize your ottoman and pillows. Locate an image and print it on special transfer paper made to iron onto fabric. Craft stores often have several different transfer papers to choose from. I find cotton fabrics work best for a project like this. For my faux snakeskin furniture, I decided to add a large tiger to the top surface of the ottoman. I was able to do this using these transfer sheets. Also, I was able to iron a little design onto the front of a pillow. This detail gave the furniture a unique quality.

5. Add trims and other embellishments. When you are in a fabric store, you will finally have an excuse to purchase some of those gorgeous decorative trims. You know the ones I?m talking about. You walk down the trim isle and see all sorts of lace, fur, beads, ribbons, and fringe, but you never have a reason to justify the splurge. Now you have a reason, so don?t hesitate to pick up a yard or two. In one case, I designed a denim furniture set. It was fun to splurge on leather and cowhide accents.

6. If you are planning to display or sell your furniture, try designing a dress for your Barbie doll using the same or coordinating fabrics. Chairs and furniture for sitting extends from the very simplest wooden stools, settles and chairs to deeply upholstered sofas and settees. A wide variety of different tables can be used for dining or other domestic usage, working, recreation purposes or just for decoration. Storage Furniture covers a multitude of varieties and uses from chests-of drawers, wardrobes, display cabinets and bookcases. Writing furniture includes bureaux, secretaires and desks.

Every restaurant owner should constantly be taking an objective look at how well your restaurant is doing. Staying ahead of the competition will keep you on your toes. Here are some ways you can get a good report card.

1. Know who your competition is!

I have encountered situations where a restaurant owner has identified the competition. Or at least what they think is their competition, but they?re not. If I am selling Gourmet Burgers with the finest of ingredients, including trimmed premium Scotch Fillet Steak for the beef patties, (like I do), in a licensed restaurant with full service and extras, I am not really in Competition with the greasy burger joint down the road, or a group like Burger King am I?

So make sure your competition is truly your competition in the first place.

2. Get Employees to Sample the Competition.

You should always know what your competition is doing, it is essential to your success. It may be difficult to go yourself though as you would no doubt be known. So send one of your employees instead. Brief them what to look for. It will also give you the opportunity to treat a staff member to something different. How about showing up for work to be told you have to go out to dinner or lunch?all expenses paid!!!

3. Employ the services of a mystery shopper.

This is the reverse of what we have just spoken about. Here you get someone to come to your restaurant and report back to you. So none of you staff know what?s going on. I organise this by going to our local business or community college and speaking to someone from the food and beverage school. They always suggest a student that would excel at the project. They earn some money, have some fun, and get a free meal. I often donate something to the college or I might even go and speak to there for them. Everybody wins.

4. Do a survey or introduce a suggestion box.

This is common, but effective. If you can get their phone number, you can call them back and probably get a few more pointers at the same time. It will also give your customers the impression that you take their feedback seriously, and value their opinions.

5. Provide Hospitality, Not Just Service.

This is one of the best ways to make sure you stay ahead of the competition. So what is the difference between hospitality and service? Hospitality is when you make a personal connection with your guests. It includes things like remembering their preferences, recognizing them when you see them and even anticipating their needs. Service on the other hand, is a matter of just doing what you have to do ?. Taking the order give the food and take the money.

I have some friends that every time they go to their favorite restaurant, there is always their usual drink at their table waiting for them. They love it. They feel extra special.

Hospitality keeps guests coming back, whereas service keeps them going anywhere else!

Its durability makes it the ideal material for making wicker furniture, as does the fact that it is so remarkably lightweight. However, its natural beauty is most likely the asset that makes it most suitable for use as furniture making material, as it would be difficult to find woods which look better in even a raw form.

How To Remove Spots From Fabric Furniture

First of all, let me explain one thing about spots and stains:

- We call spots some unwanted soiled marks on the fabric that does not belongs to the fabric itself and can be easily removed. Spots are more like: - Grease, shoe polish, finger prints, etc.

- Stains are a little more complicated to be removed and most of the times they can not be removed at all. Few stains that can be removed from the fabric are more like: - Food, coffee, juice, wine, beer, water, ink, urine, etc.

- Stains that can not be removed from fabric are bleach; and hard to remove: blood.

Most of spots and stains can be removed if used with the proper product. One very important thing to remember is to pre-test the material first. Here I will tell you how to remove most of the stains out of fabric, and the same process can be used to remove spots/stains from carpet as well.

This is what you need to do first, before you can actually try to remove any spot or stain from fabric or carpet:

- Take an inconspicuous area and make a test first. If you a trying to remove a spot/stain from carpet, go to a closet or a small area under the bed or behind a dresser and try the product you are going to use to remove the spot/stain. Apply a small amount on the cloth and work on the carpet and observe for a color transfer. If you notice a transfer, stop use the product, try a different, a mild one. The same concept applies for fabric, usually under the furniture you will have a small piece of fabric where you will be able to try for color fastness or transfer. If you noticed that the color is been transferred to the cloth stop the process and try something different. Always pre test any product before use them.

Alright, let?s get started:

-Liquid Stains:

1- First blot the stain with a clean cloth leaving it, if possible, on the stain for a few minutes to absorb the most out of it. Keep changing the cloth for a clean one for as long as you see transfer. 2- Then, spread ?Super-Sorb Liquid Spills Absorbent? over the stain and let it stand for about 15 to 20 minutes. 3- Vacuuming the whole area repeating the process if necessary. 4- If the stain persists, repeat steps 1 to 3 until you see no more stain.

-Grease or shoe polish spots:

1- Using ?Buckeye Gum, Tar & Oil Remover? blot a small portion onto a clean white cloth and start working gently on the spot. 2- Repeat the process for as long as you see transfer. But, remember to not over-wet the spot or you can damage the fabric. 3- If possible, do a little each day until you have all the spot gone, this will avoid over-wetting the spot.

-Ink stains:

1- Using ?RESOLVE Spot Magic Carpet Cleaner?, spray a little mist on top of the stain and blot with a clean white towel. 2- Keep repeating the process until all ink is removed.

Note: Most of ink stains require more than one time service, just remember to avoid over wetting the stain, if necessary do it in more days.

-Pet urine stain:

This is something different from any usual stain; you are dealing with many things in here:

- Bacteria.

- Acid

- Sometimes blood.

- Bad odor.

- Body fluid.

So it requires a more detailed procedure and the use of a hand glove. Some technicians use mask because of the products they deal with, in this scenario, you are not require to use mask as our product won?t do you any harm.

1- First blot the stain with a clean dry white towel to remove as much urine you can. 2- Then, spread ?D-Vour Absorbent Powder? over the stain and let it stand for 15 to 30 minutes. 3- Vacuum the powder off the stain and repeat the process if necessary. 4- Using the ?Shakedown Odor Eliminator? spread it over the stain and in the entire area after the stain has been removed. 5- Vacuuming the entire area in the next day.

Note: This process should remove the stain without any problem, if don?t, repeat steps 2 to 5.

They were most likely first used by armies while in the field, but soon found their way into homes.

Chairs are thought to have evolved from the earlier and more basic stools by a slow process of adding ever larger backrests. A chair that once sat in the home of an Egyptian noble three thousand years ago, now sits in the British Museum. It is made of cedar imported, most likely, from Lebanon and has inlaid ivory in the shape of lotus blossoms in the back rest. The legs end in the curved claws of a lion. The woods of Egypt came mostly from trees like the acacia, the fig, date, or willow. These trees yielded wood full of knots, with poor grain and not much strength. Hardwoods were exported from Lebanon, Syria, Nubia, and Ethiopia.

Beds were an interesting item in Egyptian theme furniture. Their design remained unchanged for over two thousands years. They were slanted downward from the head, and the foot rest served the very practical purpose of keeping you from sliding off. Many beds were built with side rails as well. Again, almost all the legs were carved into the shape of animal feet. This ranged from the hooves of bulls or fleet gazelles, to the feline curved claws of a lion. The mattress was made from wooden slats or reeds. Often a woolen cushion would add comfort, and the sheets were made from linen.

Today replicas of Egyptian theme furniture are available. Many of them are intended more for decoration and theme enhancement than for practical use. This fact would have offended the ancient ones whose designs are copied. They believed in the melding of the beautiful and aesthetic with the practical. They would have hardly understood a chair that was intended to be only looked at regardless of how expensive and beautiful it might be.

As a restaurant management recruiter I am constantly bombarded with resumes all day, every day, on weekends and holidays. It is amazing how many great managers out there can run a profitable restaurant operation inside and out, but they have no idea what to write when it comes time to shop for their next opportunity.

In the restaurant industry it isn?t about where you went to school, what degree you have or what you like to do on your days off. Plain and simple is the best strategy for getting an interview in this field. You have to understand that the hiring managers who review your resume see more resumes than I do any given day. We are talking in the mid hundreds depending on how they have their needs and job hiring goals presented to the public. Many times a resume is passed over because it isn?t user friendly or it is out of order chronologically. The worst thing I ever saw was a resume that stopped over 2 years ago with no explanation. Go ahead and file that one in the round outbox on the floor.

Before we get started let me tell you if you are not using Microsoft Word you will probably never get another job. Compatibility is the key here and whether you like it or not Word is the king of word processing software. Please don?t try to reinvent the wheel using Word Perfect or something else obscure in the marketplace. When someone gets a file that can?t be opened with their existing software they take the path of least resistance and delete it. They don?t try and contact you via email and you just lost a potential career opportunity. So step one is always use Word or you will regret it later.

The first thing a resume should have is your name centered in 14-point bold Arial font. Arial is easy on the eyes and it doesn?t distort like some other fonts. Under that you want to put your address and phone numbers a smaller 10-point Arial. You do not need an email address on there and remember just because you have a cute or clever email address that your friends think is cool doesn?t mean anyone else will. And for your sake please change the messages on your phones to something clear and precise and welcome in the job arena. This is not the time to express yourself!

The second thing you need is an objective statement, which looks great in 12-point Arial. I would suggest keeping the text size and font the same for the rest of the r?sum?. This objective description should be clear and driven. Don?t ramble on for three sentences and think anyone will care, because they won?t. For example, a nice statement about how you want to contribute to the bottom line profitability of a team using your past experiences often works well. Through in some upward growth potential and you?re on the right track.

Next is the most important part and that is experience. Starting from the present and going back is the only way to go. All you need here is the name of the company, your title and the dates (from past when to present when). Don?t worry about exact dates, but do include months and the years obviously.

After that you will need to briefly bullet statements regarding actions while in that position. These should be one-sentence statements that are clear to the reader. Don?t tell them you are a great manager because that is vague. Instead tell me why I should hire you. For instance, did you increase sales over a two-year period or did you increase sales by 12% over a two-year period using local store marketing and targeting repeat guest counts? Do you see the difference? One statement keeps you reading and one is clouded in vagueness. Take this and run with it on all other details such as labor, food and controllable costs. Any training and development of team members is also a very good example that you are part of a team and you care about their success. Because of this you will also be successful and it will help you delegate lesser jobs onto key hourly team members.

If you follow these guidelines you will probably have about 6 to 8 bulleted statements that should get you noticed. Repeat these steps for all your previous positions as well until you have described your last 5-8 years depending on the timeframe of your career. No one cares about what you did 15 years ago in this field. They want to see the most recent performance and some career progression.

As far as references go I would consider them a waste of space. No one is going to ever list a reference from a bad experience and hiring managers know this. If you have a great looking r?sum? that flows and is widely acceptable you will be getting far more calls from interested parties than those others who don?t invest their time upfront.

As I walked into the office warehouse, I was shocked at the number of task office chairs lined up, but even more amazed at how similar in appearance they all seemed, even from up close. With tilt mechanism levers, seat height adjustments features, knobs, levers, etc., they all still looked like a basic seat, seat back, arms and rolling caster wheels. That is until I actually sat down on a few and realized why some chairs do not exactly scream out ? Sit on this ?.

That day I compared many different task chairs and started to separate them out into groups in order to arrange them by features, mechanisms and colors. Having worked in the office industry for many years now, I was used to having to actually ?get down to the basics? of an office chair because while they all may look alike, looks can be deceiving. We were currently liquidating an office that was closing and consigning the furniture online for the owners and I marveled at the differences once seated in these chairs.

For example, I took 4 Herman Miller Task Chairs that were up for sale and wrote up a bio on each and of course, took a seat. One of the models was the exact chair that I currently am sitting in at my current workspace and while coincidental, was of course my favorite seat on the warehouse. It was little different in appearance from the other three task seats sitting next to it. All four chairs were upholstered in Burgundy cotton fabric with adjustable arms and rolling casters. All had three levers and a tension knob and although slightly different, looked relatively the same.

However, all of these levers came with a different purpose and it was up to the user to determine which features best suited his or her needs. The everyday medical technician has different ergonomic needs than the average computer programmer and the same can be said for the body positions needed for different tasks and work situations.

For me, spending far too many hours in front of the computer per day and typing away, I require a chair with a very relaxed tilt mechanism that moves with my body, allowing the seat back to move independently from the seat itself and keeping my feet firmly on the floor.

This type of chair with the height adjustments needed for me to be comfortable was perfect in reminding me to keep good posture, which is key for good ergonomics and long-term body health. It is essential to keep in mind that an office chair cannot help you to keep your body healthy, no matter how high end, it is your body that needs to sit properly in order to stay healthy and keep your muscles and back from aching.

For other professions where the positioning is changing constantly throughout the day and mobility is necessary, this may not be the correct chair. When picking your new task office chair, make sure that you consider what you will be using it for the most and for which tasks in order to make sure to get a chair that will fit your comfort ability and enable you to be healthy and productive in the workplace.

How many times have you had to scale back some big meal all because you were short on food prep space? It can be hard enough just finding the time to make a good meal for the family to eat together but especially so when you need to clean the food prep area once or twice just to have room to make all the dishes. Well, fortunately there are functional and beautiful kitchen carts to help solve this problem while not adding to the clutter of the space itself.

Not so long ago, I made a decision that has drastically changed my consumer life forever. The event that put this decision in motion occurred recently at a famous fast-food restaurant. For years, like many, I have suffered with great patience; waiting in long lines in a fast food drive-thru lane, hoping to obtain some kind of decent service.

Once again, not so long ago, I waited in a long line, a long wait, lousy service and I received the wrong food and accessories. Like other older customers, I also got the ?Thanks, Sweetie. Come again, real soon, and have a nice day,? line. I think it was the ?Thanks, Sweetie? that did it. I wasn?t feeling the greatest, not enough sleep and too much to do that day, so that flippant, surly gal and her careless words was the last straw on my tired, aching back.

Well, I?ve changed my consumer habits and I?m going to hold fast this new routine not just with fast food places, but also in other consumer areas. By changing my eating-out habits I will: (1) not have to endure any more ?Sweetie? routine, (2) endure no more long lines, (3) put up with lousy service, (4) receive the wrong order, (5) save a lot of money and (6) eat a lot healthier.

What have I done differently to make this happen? I now bring my own coffee, a small snack and I keep in my glove compartment all that I need for my drive-thru transactions: napkins, plastic utensils, small sacks for disposal of products, sugar, salt and pepper, etc.

I am also changing the way I deal with doctors, retail stores, pharmacies, the post office and grocery stores. I am voicing my opinion on the Web and emailing people who don?t give me quality service and products. Is this working, you might ask? Yes! I?ve gotten discount coupons, received the assistance I need on the phone and by mail and now get better service at stores, medical facilities, etc.

Yes, it takes time, effort and planning. But, it?s worth it! I no longer depend on or seek help from employees when searching for a product. I make my own decisions and pathways toward achieving what I need or desire. If a nurse offends me, someone will hear about it. If a grocery store employee is rude, the manager will be told. I will not take sub-service anymore! I am fast on my way to becoming an informed and active consumer activist.

Will these rude stores and employees miss me? No! Will their business hurt from my absence? No! Will rude and insulting behavior continue in these businesses? Yes, but if more people speak up and take a stand, quality service will emerge and customer service will forever change!

Which City Really Does Have The Most Restaurants Per Capita

Travel to most city websites around the net and you?ll be surprised by how many purport to have more restaurants per capita than anywhere else. This is claimed by San Francisco; Madison, Wisconsin; Washington DC; and Shreveport, Louisiana. At least Canadian cities stake the same claim.

So which cities do have a legitimate claim to the title of ?Most Restaurants Per Capita?? The National Restaurant Association (NRA) does publish a list of restaurants per capita per state. According to the Association, California has by far the most restaurants with a staggering 87,225 dining establishments. New York State comes in at a paltry 58,027. The top five is rounded out by Texas (53,631), Florida (41,901) Pennsylvania (31,466).

In terms of per capita per state, Washington DC tops the list according to NRA. The US capital region boosts some 0.4 restaurants per 100 people. Second is, surprisingly, Montana at .354 restaurants per 100 people. Rounding out the NRA?s top five are Rhode Island (0.304 per 100) Vermont (.303 per 100) New York (.301 per 100). If you are a little hungry you might want avoid the three states with the fewest restaurants Mississippi, Kentucky and Utah. In terms of North American cities, it is a little harder to ascertain who can claim the title of city with most restaurants per capita.

Here are ten cities with more than 100,000 people that have made the claim. But who has the real claim? Who offers the cuisine searcher or just plain hungry shopper the most choice? Who can claim the title of The Restaurant City.

The city of San Francisco is a city of 744,230 people and claims to have 2,662 restaurants within the city boundaries. There is no doubt that the standard of restaurants in the city of the bay is exceptional. If you just include San Francisco properly your density is 279 people per restaurant. But because costs of housing the number of people living in the city proper has declined while the number of businesses including restaurants, San Francisco is a distorted number. If you count the metro area, the number of restaurants climbs to 4,300 restaurants (we won?t include hundreds more in the nearby wine country of Napa and Sonoma). If you consider the metro area population of 7,168,176 and divide by 4,300 you get a per capita density of 1,667 people per restaurant.

Winnipeg is a city on the edge of the Canadian prairies that boasts a broad cross section of immigrant communities all of whom have their local ethnic cuisines. If you want French toast for breakfast, perogies and sauerkraut for lunch , and Vietnamese imperial rolls for dinner then this is the place to come. This city regularly claims to have more restaurants per capita than any other city. Some websites claim the city has 900 restaurants but in reality there are just 478. With a population of 619,544 Winnipeg can claim only one restaurant per 1,296 snow-bound Canadian.

Victoria. This city on Vancouver Island and capital city of British Columbia, Canada regularly makes the claim that it has the ?second highest number of restaurants per capita,? which is perhaps clever psychology as the city has never indicted which is top. With a population of 335,000 the city claims to have 265 Italian, French, Greek, East Indian, Vegetarian, German, Dutch, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai eateries. That means Victoria has a restaurant per 1,264 people. But with its spectacular location halfway between Vancouver and Seattle, you?d hardly care if its claim is a little off.

In New York City no one cooks at home and by the time you?ve heard of a restaurant it has probably closed. Restaurants open and close with alarming alacrity in the Big Apple. On average, the city of New York can claim 6,650 dining places from the chic Lespinasse to the greasiest corner diner -- the most restaurants in any one place on the continent. Yet with 8,168,338 people, New York can only claim to have 1, 228 people per restaurant. It might seem that every second building in New York is a restaurant but they have to cater to a lot of vertically housed residents. That explains why it is hard to find a table some nights.

The one Canadian city that can make a great claim to have the most restaurants per capita is Montreal in the province of Quebec. With just over 5,000 restaurants in the metro island area, is appears there are at least one restaurant on every street corner. With its diverse immigrant population and French majority, the city has every type of cuisine available from Lebanese to continental French to native Canadian. Some 3,720,000 Quebecois live in the metro area making Montreal the second largest French speaking city in the world. Giving it a restaurant per capita number of 744.

When you leave Austin you enter Texas so the saying goes. This funky city in central Texas has 1,088 eating places to enhance its reputation as Music City USA. That list includes 128 establishments in or around the University of Texas alone. Austin?s burgeoning population is currently 690, 252 making their people to restaurant ratio 634.

Louisville, home to the Kentucky Derby, is a small city of just over half a million people. Pap John?s Pizza and Yum Brands, the parent company of A&W, KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, both make Louisville their corporate home so it is not surprising that that this city on the Ohio River has 1,089 restaurants. That makes for 510 people per restaurant.

Madison owns the rights to the title of ?city with the most restaurants per capita? and the capital makes the claim throughout its literature. However, pining down the actual number of restaurants is pretty hard. The best list available points to 437 restaurants that caters to 221,551 people in the Wisconsin city. But that makes for only 506 people for each restaurant. Good for only third on this list.

Wichita, Kansas is not usually a city that leaps to mind when one thinks of cuisine. But with an ethnically diverse work force, the largest city in Kansas has a reputation for cultural diversity and is located in the breadbasket of America. The 739 restaurants in town have only to cater to 360, 715 people. That translates into 488 people per restaurant, good for second on our list.

Dallas. This Lone Star State city has a population of 1,250,950 and a selection of restaurants that add up to 2,666.
